World Series Champions

On wednesday November 4th, 2009 the New York Yankees conqured their 27th world series championship. The Yankees now have a record of 27 championships 40 pennants. Out of 105 World Series the Yankees have competed in 40 of them. Hdeki matsui, the Japanese slugger, earned the World Series MVP. He is the first full-time Japanese DH (designated hitter) to do so. Alex Rodriguez the 3rd baseman finally earned his first championship ring after 11 years in the MLB. Captain and Shortstop Derek Jeter has achieved his 5th ring as a Yankee! The Yankees' last championship was in 2000 and before that was 96' 98' 99. The Yankees prove to be one of the greatest franchises to ever play in sports.
